Miguel Díaz-Canel meets U.S. House of Representatives Democratic Party leader

During the meeting between Vice President Díaz-Canel and Nancy Pelosi, Democratic minority leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, discussed the updating of Cuba’s economic model, Cuba-US relations, and prospects for a Congressional debate on lifting the blockade.

Yesterday, February 19, First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers Miguel Díaz-Canel received Nancy Pelosi, Democratic minority leader of the U.S. House of Representatives, who led a delegation of Congress members which arrived in Cuba on Tuesday, the 17.

Discussed during the meeting were the updating of Cuba’s economic model, Cuba-US relations, and prospects for a Congressional debate on lifting the blockade.

Also participating were Representatives Elliot Engel (New York), Rosa DeLauro (Connecticut), Collin Peterson (Minnesota), Anna Eshoo (California), Nydia Velázquez (New York), Jim McGovern (Massachusetts), Steve Israel (New York), and David Cicilline (Rhode Island), as well as Cuba’s Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, Ministry of Foreign Relations director general for the United States, and other ministry officials. This coming February 27, another round of talks between Cuba and the United States on the reestablishment of diplomatic relations will take place in Washington.
