China´s President Xi Jinping met on Monday with Cuban President´s special envoy Salvador Valdes Mesa, at the People´s Grand Palace in Beijing.
Valdes Mesa, a member of the Politbureau of Cuba´s Communist Party, is visiting China to inform about the recent 7th Congress of the political organization.
Xi, who is the secretary general of China´s Communist Party Central Committee, congratulated Cuba for its latest congress and asked Valdes Mesa to convey his greetings to Revolution leader Fidel Castro and President Raul Castro.
The Chinese leader said that bilateral relations between Beijing and Havana have withstood the challenges posed by changes in the international arena and that both nations share common ideals and profess deep mutual respect for each other.
Meanwhile, Valdes Mesa stressed the bonds of friendship between China and Cuba and added that Cuban leaders consider bilateral relations between the two Communist parties and the two nations of the highest importance.
