Cuban rower Fournier finishes third in World Cup

Cuban Angel Fournier finished third in the men’s lightweight single in the World Rowing Cup in Lucerne, Switzerland, a result that confirms him as a possible medalist in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

According to the website of the contest, Fournier, multi-medalist in world cups and championships, won the bronze medal with time of 6: 59,310 minutes, behind New Zealander Mahe Drysdale (6: 54,110) and Czech Andrej Synek (6: 57,430).

Fournier scored better time in semifinals where he finished second with time of 6: 58,690, only surpassed by Synek (6: 56,510), while the winner in the other semifinal was Drysdale (6: 55.210), ahead of Lithuanian Mandaguas Griskonics (6: 55,920).
