British Firm Pledges Major Surge In Power For Cuba

A British renewable energy company announced yesterday that it is to make one of the biggest-ever foreign investments in Cuba.

Havana Energy, led by former Labour trade secretary Brian Wilson, is to build a biomass power station in partnership with state-run sugar company Azcuba SA.

If successful the project could be the first of five in Cuba, which is still besieged by an illegal trade blockade imposed by the United States
