New Havana's Archbishops takes office

Monsignor Juan de la Caridad García Rodríguez took office this Sunday in the Havana’s Cathedral as the new Archbishop of this city.

Top officials of the Cuban government and State were present in the ceremony, including Vice-president Salvador Valdés Mesa and Caridad Diego, head of the Office of Religious Affairs of the central committee of the Cuban Communist Party.

According to Granma newspaper, Cardinal Jaime Ortega received Monsignor Garcia and together they entered the Cathedral to perform several rites before the Mass.

Later, Cardinal Ortega handed the croiser to Monsignor Diaz, and the latter officiated the Mass where he praised Ortega´s work as pastor for many years.
