Spanish golfer Miguel Angel Jimenez praised here today the possibilities Cuba has to develop the sport and the tourism associated with this discipline.
Golf is another way for the island to generate significant revenue and jobs, stated the European to reporters after giving a course to about 40 Cuban and foreign fans.
Jimenez talked about the growth of this sport in the world, including the Caribbean region and mentioned as examples Dominican Republic and Barbados, countries that have golf courses and “are always full of tourists”.
It would be good that Cuba began to open some resorts associated with golf, he said.
He also considered important the new stage of the relations between Cuba and the United States to develop the discipline on the island, taking into account that between 10 and 15 percent of U.S. citizens practice this sport.
After teaching the course, the Spanish played with Cuban amateur a tournament of nine holes at Golf Club Capdevila in this capital.
