Cuba’s Opening Up – Should the Caribbean be Worried?

Word that Carnival Cruise Lines has received approval to offer cruises from Miami to Cuba in May has been met with some trepidation by some tourism insiders in the Caribbean. However, others see the development as an ideal opportunity to simply better their tourism offerings and fine-tune their services.

Peter Isaac is the President of the Vendors Association, a body which represents merchants of local products and souvenirs to cruise visitors.

He says there is a bit of anxiety among his members, but they believe Saint Lucia can compete if all components of the tourism product are enhanced.
