Efforts of Cuban Baseball and MLB to Normalize Relations Highlighted

The Vice President of the Cuban Baseball Federation, Antonio Castro, today highlighted the effort of his country and the Major League Baseball (MLB) to normalize their relations.

Interviewed by ESPN Network, the Cuban baseball official was optimistic to the future, and hopes that sports exchanges are becoming increasingly frequent, and that both parties work together for the good of the sport.

“This is happening, it is real,” said Castro, referring to the impending match by a Cuban team against the MLB representative Tampa Bay Rays, the first team in MLB playing in Havana since 1999, when the Baltimore Orioles came.

“Everyone is excited and happy, we worked very hard to achieve it, and 17 years are too many, we have to collide more frecuently’, said Castro, who confirmed that his country will continue betting on develop baseball in Cuba.
