Cuba Committed to FAO Plans and Targets

Cuba ratified its commitment in the implementation of the Plan for Food Security, Nutrition and Eradication of Hunger and Poverty by 2025, during the regional meeting of FAO, currently in session here.

In an interview with Prensa Latina, Cuban Deputy Minister of Agriculture, José Miguel Rodríguez, who leads a delegation to the 34th Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, said that Cuba is bringing to the meeting the efforts and programs developed to back the production of food, which turned the country into a leading nation in fulfilling in advance the target set by the First World Food Summit.

He recalled that the Director of FAO acknowledged last year that Cuba is among the 16 countries with better results in the reduction of hunger.

Such achievements have been made in spite of the US policy of economic, financial and commercial blockade forcing Cuba to buy food in different countries, which is often more expensive.
