Cuban president Raul Castro saw off Pope Francis who made a three hour stop-over in Havana to meet Patriarch Kirill, leader of the Russian Orthodox Church.
After the historical meeting, first between the top figures of the Catholic and Russian Orthodox churches, Francis went to the plane that will take him to Mexico for an ecumenical visit.
Raul Castro and several top officials from the Cuban government and Catholic Church accompanied Francis to the stairs of the plane.
The Pope thanked the Cuban leader for having hosted this meeting, and sent his regards and blessings to the Cuban people.
