The National Council of Performing Arts has granted this Monday the National Theater Award to stage director and Professor Carlos Celdran, an essential personality in Cuban contemporary theater.
Celdran directs one of the most famous Cuban theater companies: Argos Teatro, with which he has won several criticism awards and distinctions in festivals taking place in Cuba and abroad.
He is also Professor of the University of Arts and author of books on stage direction. He is the president of the National Center of the International Theatre Institute (ITI).
Carlos Celdran’s productions are distinguished by using just the essential on the stage, for the solid work with the cast and the decided commitment of the selected authors with the playwriting.
Celdran has staged classics of universal theater, international contemporary authors and young Cuban creators, always with excellent critics and favorably received by the public.
