Cuban Young Student Leader Elected to State Council

President of the University Student Federation (FEU), Jennifer Bello, was elected today as member of the State Council of Cuba to replace Abelardo Colome, who filed resignation in October for health reasons.

This is the first time a FEU president is elected to the State Council, a body that represents the Cuban Parliament in the periods between sessions, executes agreements adopted in Parliament and carries out other tasks as established by the Constitution.

The State Council is made up of a president, who is also the head of State and Government, one first vice president, five vice presidents, one secretary and another 23 members; it is the supreme representation of the Cuban State.
