Cuban specialists of the Labiofam Business Group are here today as part of the Program of Struggle against Malaria in Niger, said Cuban Ambassador Reinaldo Derivet.
Those experts expressed their willingness to turn reality the aspirations of President Issoufou Mahamadou to reduce the mortality index from malaria with Cuban collaboration in this West African state.
That epidemic is the main killer in this country, and therefore, the parties signed a cooperation agreement in the field during a state visit to Cuba paid by Mahamadou on September, 2014.
Cuban internationalist collaborators are giving clinical-surgical assistance in remote places in Niger; they also develop awareness campaigns and mass vaccinations, sanitary-epidemiologic control and services to victims of seisms and other contingencies.
Labiofam in Africa has managed to extend the vector control programs to the entire continent, including the countries of the Economic Community of West African States.
