As it is known, on July 2014, Cuba proposed to the United States to hold a bilateral dialogue on human rights. This proposal was reiterated last January, 2015, and accepted by United States authorities.
Cuba has proposed to celebrate these conversations next March 31, in Washington DC.
Cuba expects this dialogue be developed in a constructive scenario, based on reciprocity, with no conditions and discrimination and with full respect to the sovereign equality, independence and non-interference in others’ internal affairs.
The dialogue will include issues of interest for both countries and, within this context, Cuba will show its achievements in the promotion and protection of all human rights, not only to the Cuban people, but also to the peoples of numerous nations that have received Cuba’s cooperation in health and education.
Likewise, we will express our concern on the situation of human rights in the United States and other nations where this country has a direct incidence.
These conversations on issues related to the human rights constitute a symbol of Cuba’s will to discuss any issue with the United States, despite our differences, based on equality and reciprocity.
We are conscious of our deep differences with the United States government regarding the political systems, democracy, human rights and international right. At the same time, we have the will that both nations could have civilized relations within the recognition and respect to these differences.
